Complete Palm Set-up Guide (Windows XP)
1. INSTALL PALM DESKTOP
Click on the link below to download the Palm Desktop installer
for Windows XP
- Palm Desktop v6.2 ( suitable
for Windows XP )
Once the file is downloaded, double click on it to run it. This
will install the Palm Desktop Software.
Once the Palm Desktop has installed, you mst perform a HotSync to confirm the software has installed correctly.
When the HotSync is functioning correctly, right click on the HotSync Icon and click on Exit to close the HotSync manager.
If you are using a Blue industriual Meazura, then you will need to install a USB driver here
2. INSTALL COLLECT FOR PALM OS
If Collect is not installed on the Palm, click the link below, if it is already installed, move on to step 3.
Clicking the above link will bring up the Palm Install Tool.
Select the correct user from the drop down list and click OK.
Collect for Palm OS will now be installed during the next HotSync.
3. DOWNLOAD COLLECT CONDUIT
Click each of the three files below, and choose to save them into the Palm folder. Typically, this is either C:\Palm or C:\Program Files\Palm.

4. INSTALL COLLECT CONDUIT
The Hotsync Manager must be closed before completing this step.
Once the files are saved into the Palm directory, run the Palm COM installer by double clicking on it.
Double click on Collectcond(.reg). This will add the details to the registry.
Double click on Collectcond.dll.
Windows will ask you what program to use to open this type of file.
You will need to select the program from a list if you are prompted.
From the Open With window, click Browse / Other to bring up another window.
Click on the Look In bar at the top to show a pull down menu, and select Local Disk (C:).
Double click on the WINDOWS / WINNT folder.
Double click on the System32 folder.
Locate and double click on the file, regsvr32.
This will return you to the original Open With window, and Microsoft (C) Register Server will be highlighted.
Restart the HotSync manager by clicking on:
Start > Programs > Palm Desktop > Hot Sync Manager.
You can check that the Conduit is now working by performing a HotSync, whereby the Collect Interface Conduit will appear towards the end of the HotSync.
